Tara Hogan- Certified Yoga Instructor, Kripalu, 2006
BFA Illustration and Design, Syracuse University, 1999

I was introduced to yoga by my mother, June, who had been retreating to Ananda Ashram, Monroe, NY, in 1986. I was 9 years old. My mom had spoke of yoga while I
was a child but it was not until I visited the Ashram that I understood it's magic and grace. She continually fed its benefits to me through many years encouraging me to practice. I danced, practiced gymnastics, and made art instead but kept her words
close by.

My journey into yoga began in 1999 when I tried yoga at a gym in CT, my native state. I was not dedicated until 2001 when I moved to Syracuse to be with my long time love, Mark. I became tired of the gym and when my mom relapsed once again with health problems I sought out meditation and a way to detoxify the mind, body, and spirit. I began to practice regularly at 2 different places studying vinyasa yoga with Judiann Cesta, owner of East Street Yoga, Skaneatelas, NY. I found home and clarity.

I then fell upon a Sean Corne vinyasa/chakra workshop in NYC and completely found stuck energy in my body that began to dissolve, finally. I was now on my way to embracing the chakra system and layers of historical traumatic cellular memory in my mind and body. While practicing in Syracuse at CNY Yoga with Laurie and Lisa I found Kripalu and its heartfelt wisdom. My practice deepened and aI found a great yoga community.

I studied with Shiva Rea at a weekend teacher intensive in NYC and began to learn more about trance dance, rhythmic vinyasa, and the kramas. I was ready to further pursue my love of yoga and become a more knowledgeable yogi and teacher. From Shiva's training I practiced Ashtanga in NYC for 4 days with Manju Jois, son of Patabois Jois. I finally certified at Kriplau in the summer of 2006.

I further my studies by practicing at CNY Yoga, and retreats at Omega with Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa, Shiva Rea, Sharron Gannon, Sally Kempton, and Sean Corne. I continually practice at Jivamukti Yoga whenever I am in NYC and Fresh Yoga in New Haven, CT when I visit my family.

My intention is to create a sacred space where all beings are welcome and can move and be at ease. Loka Samasta Sukhino Bhavantu. Om Shanti.

"We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time."
