Kate Muehlemann: I began my path in yoga taking classes at a local gym and developing a home practice. It was not until I took my first class at the CNY yoga center in May of 2007 that I was awakened to the true meaning of yoga and its teachings. It was here that ‘yoga class’ transformed into a life practice under the direction of Lorie Bebber, and Lisa Sarick. Lisa introduced me to Kripalu and Hatha yoga, and its teachings. She inspired me to incorporate this practice into my daily life,on and off the mat. Lorie’s dedicated practice and devotion has served as an example for me to make this practice priority in my life. Through the process of learning to trust, and offering up all actions to the greatest good, things in my life seemed to fall into place- relationships, career, spirituality… I soon discovered that my dharma or life’s purpose was to serve others on their path in health, living well, and self-realization. Inspired by the teachings of Dharma Mittra, I wished to study and share the wisdom that had guided me. In October of 2008, I was blessed with the opportunity to study under Sri Dharma during my 200 hour teacher training. My goal is to share his beautiful teachings, love & light by continuing to “copy the teacher”.
I work as a registered nurse, and am currently studying at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in New York City, where I will become certified in holistic health and nutrition. My intention is to raise health awareness of the mind, body, and spirit within the community.
I would like to offer my gratitude to Lisa and Lorie for the dedication, inspiration and continued guidance, Rachel Leonardo for unconditional love and support, and to all the members of the CNY yoga community for allowing me to share. Om shanti om.
